Funny Office Superlatives

When I wrote the original collection of Funny Awards in 2008, it had an obvious office slant. This largely came from my own experience working in an office environment.

In 2013, I set out to put all of the office-specific awards into their own collection for the first time. The result is “101 Funny OfficeAwards.”

From 101 Funny Office Awards by Larry Weaver
Whether it’s a corporate office, church office, or manufacturing plant office, there are certain situations and references that are unique to office culture. From cubicles to computers, meetings, break rooms, desks, office gossip — 101 Funny Office Awards covers it all.

I find the best source of awards inspiration comes from performing at company office parties.

I hear the same things everywhere – the coffeepot is always empty, Internet surfing is restricted, and the office temperature is too hot (or too cold). Sound familiar?

Managers want to show employees that they are fun and have a sense of humor. Unfortunately, their attempts at humor often border on inappropriate or offensive.

If you’re trying to come up with your own office awards, don’t worry. I've done the work for you.

Some of the office superlatives honor those co-workers who are:
  • most likely to pass off work to others
  • least likely to commit to anything
  • most likely to lose paperwork
  • most likely to extend meetings
  • most likely to surf the Internet
  • most likely to dress casually
  • most likely to devour the break room food
  • most likely to send emails in ALL CAPS

I am serious about customer satisfaction. Every purchase comes with my cell phone number. If you have any issues, I’m here to help.

If you want to purchase 101 Funny Office Awards, look for 3 things: written by “Larry Weaver”, my photo on the cover, and “funawards.com” in the URL. Purchase directly from me at www.funawards.com/office-awards

Paper Plate Awards

Does anyone know who came up with the idea for paper plate awards? Apparently the concept involves a paper plate, a Sharpie (magic marker), and... well, that's it. You come up with a funny award idea and write it on the paper plate. Is that it?

I guess you could break out some glitter or stickers if you're feeling fancy.

I'd love to know the origin of paper plate awards. Did they start at camp or scouts? Aren't they pretty much just a variation of funny superlatives and most likely to awards? If you have any insight, please post it in the comments section.

Regarding good paper plate awards for sports, keep in mind the awards don't have to be directly related to swimming, hockey, basketball, cheerleading, golf, volleyball, softball or to any sport at all. Don't get hung up on puns. Instead, think about the characteristic of the award recipient. Here are a few more ideas from FunAwards.com that work:
  • Selective Hearing Impairment Award for the player who never listens to the coach
  • Loch Ness Award for the team member who is always missing practice
  • Running with the Bulls Award for the person who takes the most chances.
These aren't necessarily sports-related, but they can work with a little creativity. And hey, they're FREE!

Funny Certificates to Give

My new book Funny Awards Certificates: 101 Humorous Awards to Give Family, Friends, and Coworkers (1st Edition) is now on sale!

This collection is a little different from past award collections. I originally wrote "Funny Employee Awards" to give managers and bosses a way to have fun with employees, volunteers or staff without offending or getting into trouble with Human Resources.

"Funny Award Certificates" is a more peer-to-peer product. As the title states, I designed these awards for you to give to family, friends, coworkers - and even teammates.

Check out my new YouTube video for a peek inside the book:

New to this edition is the ability to edit both the Award Title and the Award Description. If this functionality proves popular, I will incorporate it into future versions of "Funny Employee Awards". Be sure to let me know your thoughts in the comments section.

And here's a press release that went out today announcing the new book:
"Does the thought of holiday parties evoke images of awkward conversations around the family dinner table or never-ending White Elephant gift swaps? Comedian Larry Weaver feels your pain."

I hope this book will help you liven up your family reunions, alumni gatherings, neighborhood parties, and office events!

Most Likely To Awards

Most Likely to Awards are a great way to add laughter to any yearbook, school function, family reunion, or office party. These awards typically take the format of "most likely to...", but you can also twist them into "least likely to..."

Once a mainstay in high school yearbooks, a classic list of Most Likely to Awards includes:
  • most likely to succeed
  • most likely to get married
  • most likely to become President
  • most likely to end up in jail
  • most likely to become a supermodel
  • most likely to be remembered
  • most likely to be forgotten

Flip the wording around and now you have doubled your list of awards:
  • least likely to succeed
  • least likely to get married
  • least likely to become President
  • least likely to end up in jail
  • least likely to become a supermodel
  • least likely to be remembered
  • least likely to be forgotten

Most Likely To Awards can work great in the office or workplace, too. But due to the sensitive nature of the workplace (especially in the U.S.), you'll want to avoid references to appearance or character traits that could potentially embarrass the recipient. New jobs are hard to come by these days, and you don't want to get canned by HR (most likely to fire you for inappropriate most likely to awards).

For corporate settings, create most likely to awards that focus on humorous situations common to the workplace. Some examples include:
The hard part in coming up with most likely to awards is making them funny. After all, the idea is to create a few laughs, not awkward tension. That's why we've assembled a team of top comedians and office workers to do the work for you.

Funny Superlatives - Award Ideas and Certificates

Funny superlatives are a great way to add laughter to any high school reunion, family reunion, or office party. They typically take the format of "most likely to...", but they can also be definitive statements such as most popular, friendliest, or best smile. So what are superlatives? By definition, a superlative simply means being the extreme degree of comparison of an adjective or adverb, as in best or brightest. In other words, something of the highest possible excellence.

A classic list of superlatives includes biggest geek (or nerd), most likely to succeed, biggest flirt, most popular, class clown, most talkative, quietest, and biggest partier.

Superlatives can work great in the office or workplace, too. But due to the sensitive nature of the U.S. workplace, you'll want to shy away from references to appearance or character traits that could potentially embarrass the recipient. Instead, create funny coworker superlatives that focus on humorous situations common to the office. Some examples include:

Office Superlatives - Most Likely Superlatives Ideas for Business, Work

Office superlatives are a great way to add laughter to this year's holiday office party. You remember superlatives from high school: most likely to succeed, most popular, friendliest... Don't worry, I didn't get one, either. But now is our chance! The workplace is full of potential superlative awards.

Business superlatives can be good or bad, usually taking the form of "most likely to" or "least likely to". They typically take the form of "[Award Title] for most/least likely to [attribute]." There are lots of people in the office who are worthy of work superlatives. They include:
